ABOUT DAVID
David Blaemire is a full time painter whose studio is in Nipomo,
California. A former broadcaster and Emmy award winning television writer
and producer. Blaemire specializes in contemporary oil and acrylic
paintings that have, as he says, “an architectural and geometrical
quality“ to them. David works with the objective that the paintings will
not just occupy space on a wall, but will constantly enrich the senses and
add to the harmony of its surroundings.

Preparation: Having been a framer for years I was using and old
guillotine chopper to cut the stretchers and a Cassese underpinner(1985)
to nail everything together. I have since built a new studio and space is now
at a premium and the old tools have been replaced. I now use a Makita miter saw
and different pneumatic nail guns to join the stretchers. These tools take
up allot less space and can be stored in a cabinet out of sight. The canvas
is then is stapled onto the bars using 5/16 inch staples and a pair of
canvas pliers. The last step of the preparation is two or three coats of
gesso and sanding if needed. Then the fun begins and we start throwing paint.
